Jawbone to be sold alongside iPhone

When Apple fans across the country flock to their neighborhood Apple Store to pick up their shiny new iPhone next Friday, they'll also have the opportunity to buy a Jawbone Bluetooth headset to go along with it. That's right; the Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headset will be sold alongside the iPhone at all Apple Stores (plus Apple's online store) starting June 29, 2007. Designed by Yves Behar and decked out with military-grade noise-canceling technology, the Jawbone is certainly no slouch in the design and performance department, but we can't help but wonder whatever happened to Apple's own Bluetooth headset that Steve Jobs showed at MacWorld earlier this year. Will that be available in stores as well? Or will it be bundled with the phone? Considering the Jawbone sells for around $119.99, it might be wise for Apple to offer its own headset at a lower and more affordable price. That said, the Jawbone is a quality device (it's one of CNET's highest rated Bluetooth headsets), so if you have the cash to spare and the wherewithal to wait in line for the iPhone, it'll be there waiting for your Bluetooth-hungry hands.

What about stereo bluetooth and the iPhone
by ALPICH June 19, 2007 7:28 AM PDT
I find it very hard to think of bluetooth as exciting. I have three phones all of which have it. I have two bluetooth headsets and they all work great. How good does it really need to be to talk to someone on the phone. But music that is a different game. If the iPhone can do stereo bluetooth music playback and even movie playback then that is worth talking about. Please someone put me out of my misery

Also, you can't just buy bluetooth stereo headphones for the iphone. The iPhone must support Bluetooth A2DP to be able to stream music wirelessly.

by that you mean top of the line tech for 1963, that the last time it worked was before it left the factory.

in the rare case that it does work, it usually has a meltdown 2 seconds before you really need it.

Death to all bluetooth headsets
by Swift2 June 19, 2007 12:02 PM PDT
They unleash their owners on us, jabbering to themselves as they
walk the aisles of our stores, completely out of touch with their
surroundings. They veritably scream: "My wearer is an idiot."

from everything i've heard, this is supposed to be the best bluetooth headset on the market right now. Most reviewers have given it great ratings.

It is a little expensive selling for $119 at the official jawbone site. However, i have seen many stores selling it for around $90, which is a decent price for a good bluetooth headset.

NO Bluetooth Stereo Audio in IPHONE!
by meltronx July 1, 2007 6:11 PM PDT
Well I thought the IPhone would come with support for streaming audio... WRONG! Mono phone Bluetooth. I tried 3 Bluetooth stereo headsets only mono phone support! Only ActiveSync, HotSync, IrMCSync, Headset Gateway Services are active on the IPhone. $800 bucks later, Ouch!
