Hussein trial to be Webcast in U.S.
Just in case you find yourself fretting over what to watch now that HBO's "Rome" has concluded its first season and "Survivor" is about to wrap its eleventh, Internet-based JumpTV might have the answer.
Talk about reality programming: The show doesn't have a catchy name and it's not produced by Mark Burnett, but it has an all-too-famous star.
That would be none other than our dear friend Saddam Hussein. You know, the angry guy with a beard who keeps yelling and screaming at the camera. No, not Geraldo Rivera. Saddam Hussein. You remember. The former dictator of Iraq? The one who was supposed to have all those WMDs?
JumpTV and its partner, AldiyarSat, plan on making gavel-to-gavel coverage of Hussein's trial available to American viewers willing to pony up $9.95 a month. For their sawbuck, subscribers will get full access to the trial footage, including a searchable archive. Plus, for great fun around the water cooler, the content is available for any high-speed Internet-enabled device.
But what could be really interesting is if JumpTV got someone to translate. I can't imagine what could be more entertaining than an English translation of Hussein's histrionics.
