A bestselling Bezos?
Amid the cornucopia of get-rich-quick schemes, erectile dysfunction pill bargains, commercial solicitations in Chinese, personal insults, threats, and PR pitches that constitute the morning mail, the fruit of citizen journalism occasionally presents itself. A correspondent writes:
"While not everyone was impressed by it, you'll find nothing but rave reviews at Amazon.com for The Testing of Luther Albright, the debut novel of MacKenzie Bezos, wife of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, which will be published by HarperCollins in August. The book's cover sports a testimonial ("A sophisticated novel that breaks and swells the heart") by Toni Morrison, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, which could only be more impressive if MacKenzie hadn't been Morrison's assistant."
In response to a query about Ms. Bezos' upcoming book, Amazon said it "generally does not arrange interviews with authors"--though I'll bet you anything they have her cell. The publisher didn't return calls, so I'm left to await the August release of the book along with the citizen journalists and everyone else. If anyone out there knows Toni Morrison, or her new assistant, maybe you can score a copy.
