Recharge this battery via USB
As someone with drawers full of way too many AA batteries, I was happy to read about the new rechargeable USBCell by U.K. company Moixa Energy. The NiMH AA cell can charge from any USB port without the need for recharging devices, cradles or cables. Just pop the lid to reveal a built-in connector and charger, plug into any powered USB port on your desktop, laptop, keyboard or game console and go on about your gadgeteering business.
A two-cell pack of USBCells is available online for 12.99 pounds ($24.50).
Moixa, which invents renewable energy and portable power solutions, says the USBCell will be available in the future in a AAA format and a 9V format, as well as versions for a range of major phones, BlackBerry and portable devices. Also expect to see converters that enable consumers to make the AA cells work as C- or even D-size cells.
