Another NASA hacking suspect nabbed
A teen suspected of hacking into systems belonging to the U.S. military, NASA and networking giant Cisco Systems has been charged in Sweden, according to a published report.
The 18-year-old from Uppsala, Sweden, was charged not because of his overseas activities, but for breaking into computers at seven universities in Sweden, The Local, a Swedish news Web site, reported Thursday, crediting Tidningarnas Telegrambyra, Sweden's national news agency.
U.S. authorities are investigating the teen as well, the report said, without specifying which law enforcement agency is handling the case.
Earlier this year, Gary McKinnon, another hacker accused of breaking into NASA's systems, lost a crucial battle in his fight to avoid prosecution in the U.S. McKinnon lives in London and allegedly broke into 53 U.S. government computers, including some used by NASA, causing $700,000 worth of damage.
